Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman reacts to roaring ‘Freddie’ chants after walk-off win vs. Angels

Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman is about as reliable as it gets in the clutch moments. On Saturday, he gave the Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.

During his postgame interview, Freeman received loud “Freddie” chants from the fans at Dodger Stadium. Freeman is a fan-favorite, and that was extremely clear on Friday night.

“No, it never gets old,” Freeman said of the chants, via SportsNet LA. “I love it, I appreciate it. It’s awesome. Fans come out every single night and support us, so we really do appreciate. Glad we got the win.”

Freeman has been swinging the bat well in recent action. The 36-year-old is now slashing .276/.360/.478 across 61 games played. Freeman has 10 home runs as well. He is clearly finding his rhythm at the plate.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, continue to perform well despite battling injury trouble. Blake Snell is among the Dodgers currently out due to injury. Nevertheless, Los Angeles holds a comfortable 7.5 game lead in the National League West standings over the second place Arizona Diamondbacks, as the Dodgers are currently 41-23 overall.

The Dodgers and Angels will go head-to-head once again on Saturday night at Dodger Stadium. The Angels would love to upset their Southern California neighbors, but they are tied with the Colorado Rockies for the worst record in MLB at 24-40. Upsetting the two-time defending champions will be a challenge to say the least.

First pitch for Saturday’s ball game is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST.
