Those skeptical that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding was taking place in New York City now have further proof from NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani himself that it’s going down in the Big Apple.

Speaking to reporters, Mamdani talked about “big events” like the World Cup, the New York Knicks’ championship celebrations, Independence Day, and even Swift and Kelce’s wedding. He name-dropped Swift, indicating that the wedding will take place in the city.

“We are the biggest city in the country, we are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one,” he said. “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run, we know it coincides with July 4th, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding, all happening at the same time. We’re so excited to welcome the world here.”

Is NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani invited to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding?

According to TMZ, Mamdani was asked if he received an invitation to the wedding during the same press briefing. He said “no,” but he did wish them “a lovely wedding.”

He won’t hold any hard feelings, though, for not receiving an invite. Mamdani joked that he’d listen to “Only the Young” from his house to make up for the snub.

Swift and Kelce are rumored to be celebrating their wedding at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3. Yes, the World’s Most Famous Arena will be hosting a celebration of the world’s most famous wedding. Currently, a “massive” stage is being built in Lititz, Pennsylvania, for the event.

There are also murmurs that the actual wedding will take place elsewhere. Over 1,000 people are invited to the couple’s MSG celebration.

Swift and Kelce are getting married nearly three years after they first got together. They announced their engagement before the 2025 NFL season in August 2025. Less than a year later, they will tie the knot.
