Did Bruce Springsteen add any surprises to New Jersey homecoming show setlist?
Usually, whenever The Boss Bruce Springsteen returns to New Jersey, he plays a special show full of surprises, and his 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams Tour had one stop in Newark on Monday, Apr. 20.
However, some may be surprised to find out that the setlist remained static during his latest homecoming concert. Springsteen has played mostly the same show for his last few concerts since introducing a cover of The Clash’s “Clampdown” to the set in Inglewood, California, on Apr. 7, with the exception of “Two Hearts” replacing “Out in the Street.”
Seven shows in, it’s becoming clear that the spontaneity of past Springsteen tours isn’t present. However, this should have been expected, given the tour’s mission statement. This is a topical tour, and The Boss has a story to tell every night.
Still, he played his biggest hits, like “Born to Run” and “Dancing in the Dark.” As with every other show on the tour, he was joined by Tom Morello for select songs.
Like every show on this tour, Springsteen and the E Street Band began with a rendition of the Temptations’ “War.” That kicked right into “Born in the U.S.A.”
