Dianna Russini salary revealed prior to Mike Vrabel scandal

Two months after Dianna Russini resigned from her role at The Athletic, a new report reveals how much she made at the New York Times-owned company.

Russini resigned from her role as a reporter and senior NFL insider for the publication back in April, and in a June 24 New York Times report, reveals that Russini was earning nearly $800,000 a year.

The report follows Russini, making headlines of her own when she and Mike Vrabel — the head coach for the New England Patriots — after photos of them were published by Page Six of them holding hands at an Arizona luxury resort.  They also claimed that they were a part of two separate groups of friends when the photos went viral, as they are married to other people. However, three other eyewitnesses told Page Six that they did not see anyone else with them.

The New England Patriots coach has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999, and they also have two sons together. Russini, on the other hand, got married in 2020 to Kevin Goldschmidt, an executive at Shake Shack. The former NFL insider and Goldschmidt also share two sons. Neither of their spouses has spoken out about the allegations.

Since the initial photos, there have been more snapshots of Russini and Vrabel leaked including them allegedly kissing in a New York City bar in 2020 and at casino in 2024 after his firing from the Tennessee Titans.

Russini and Vrabel’s scandal is still being investigated by her former employer in which they recently shared that it might take a “few more weeks.”

Prior to joining The Athletic in 2023, she spent many years at ESPN building her career. Vrabel has coached for the Titans from 2018 to 2025 and prior to that role he was the linebacker’s coach from 2014 to 2016 and the defensive coordinator for the 2017 season with the Houston Texans. He joined his former team, the New England Patriots who he played for eight seasons and won three Super Bowls with before becoming the head coach in 2025. Vrabel is entering his second year as the head coach following him leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl last season.
