Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll scratched against Mets with hip injury

Injuries have been the story for Corbin Carroll early in the 2026 season. After bouncing back from a broken hamate bone in his right hand he suffered in spring training, the Arizona Diamondbacks star suffered a hip injury on Wednesday night against the New York Mets.

With Arizona scheduled to take on New York again on Thursday, reports indicate that the 25-year-old outfielder is officially scratched from the lineup, according to Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Carroll believes it is a minor injury and that he will bounce back soon.

“Corbin Carroll is out of the lineup today,” reported Piecoro. “He is dealing with what he says is a minor hip thing he felt on his triple yesterday. Says it’s not serious and doesn’t expect to miss much time.”

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo claims that Carroll is dealing with a left hip flexor, per Arizona-based sports reporter Jody Jackson. Lovullo expressed minimal concern about the injury and believes that cold weather may have been a factor. From the sounds of it, Carroll should be able to return to action in no time.

“Talking to Torey Lovullo, Corbin Carroll’s left hip flexor is tight, felt it on triple, finished the game,” said Jackson. “Cold weather could be a factor. Hoping that rest tonight will help. Concern was minimal.”

As reported by both Piecoro and Jackson, the fifth-year pro suffered the injury after hitting a triple in the Diamondbacks 7-2 win over the Mets on Wednesday. He did finish that contest, but will be getting a break for the third matchup of the three-game series against New York.

Instead, the Diamondbacks will be leaning on Alek Thomas, Tim Tawa, and Jorge Barrosa in the outfield against the Mets on Thursday. Corbin Caroll has played in 12 games this season, owning a .333 batting average and .408 OBP while totaling 14 hits, two home runs, and 11 RBIs. He also leads MLB in triples with three.
