Derrick Henry ‘freak’ injury scare left Ravens players taking a knee
The Baltimore Ravens experienced a tense moment during organized team activities Tuesday when star running back Derrick Henry went down following what was described as a “freak” collision during practice.
According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, several Ravens players took a knee after Henry remained on the ground following the collision, briefly creating concern throughout the practice field.
“Derrick Henry is fine but there was scary moment in today’s ota where Henry went down after freak collusion. A few players took a knee after Henry was down. However, he got up, only missed few plays and returned to practice.”
The situation ultimately proved minor, with Henry later joking about the incident while confirming he avoided any serious injury.
“The ground felt like a bed,” Henry said, adding that the media “looked hot and bored” and that he “wanted to give media something to tweet.”
“Just banged knees. I was fine. I probably laid there too long,” Henry said.

The veteran running back also acknowledged the adjustment period currently taking place during Baltimore’s offseason program as players continue learning under head coach Jesse Minter.
“Everything is so new. We’re all just trying to learn,” Henry said.
According to Luke Jones of WNST, Minter recently described his vision for the Ravens entering the 2026 season.
“Be our best when our best is needed.”

Henry remains one of the NFL’s most physically dominant running backs and is expected to play a major role in Baltimore’s offense alongside quarterback Lamar Jackson. After missing the playoffs last season, the Ravens are looking to reestablish themselves as contenders in the AFC.
Baltimore will continue OTA sessions on May 21, May 26-28, June 1-2 and June 4 before mandatory minicamp begins June 9-11.
The Ravens are scheduled to open the 2026 regular season Sept. 13 against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
