Dave Roberts’ immediate reaction to Dodgers losing 7 games in a row
While the Los Angeles Dodgers are still in first in the National League West, the club is struggling right now. Los Angeles has lost seven in a row, after dropping a game Friday to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Los Angeles got walked off by Arizona, after L.A. reliever Edwin Diaz blew a save. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave a blunt statement following the loss.
“A loss is a loss,’’ Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, per USA Today, “but to get walked off never feels good. We didn’t play a clean game, a great game on either side of the baseball, but we did enough to put ourselves in position to win the game.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t do it.’’
Los Angeles is now 69-47 on the season. The Dodgers still have a 7.5 game lead in the division, despite this brutal losing streak. Roberts says he may have to make pitching changes going forward.
“I think honestly,’’ Roberts said, “you’ve got to look at the options, and see the way some of these guys are throwing. They’re not throwing great, either. We’ve got to keep guys in their roles that they’ve earned, and try to get them on a run the way we were a few weeks ago.
“So, I just don’t think there’s a clear-cut alternative.’’
The Dodgers certainly have a lot of great pitching. Ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline, the team traded for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. Injuries though have caused some consternation in recent weeks for the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are in action again against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Time will tell if L.A. can finally end this streak.
