Dave Portnoy places massive Super Bowl LX bet and reveals NFL ban lifted after decade-long feud
Dave Portnoy’s Super Bowl ban may have finally been lifted.
It is no secret that the Barstool Sports founder has been in a feud with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for almost a decade.

This dates back to 2015 and the ‘deflategate’ controversy that involved Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in which Portnoy and some of his employees staged a protest about how Goodell handled the investigation.
The group of protestors handcuffed themselves to the floor of the lobby at the NFL headquarters, and after refusing to leave, were subsequently arrested.
Barstool Sports, including Portnoy, were ultimately banned from attending league events with their Super Bowl week credentials revoked.
But with New England returning to the Super Bowl in 2026 in a new era of Patriots football spearheaded by head coach Mike Vrabel and second-year quarterback Drake Maye, Portnoy has made a public plea to Goodell for a truce.
“Dear @nflcommish Am I still banned from the Super Bowl?” Portnoy posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.
TMZ Sports executive producer Michael J. Babcock weighed in and replied back to Portnoy: “Big news @stoolpresidente! I have received word from the @NFL that you could “buy a ticket and attend the Super Bowl.” @barstoolsports”
Just hours later, Portnoy took to X again where he issued an update: “Breaking: I’m hearing that the NFL ban on Barstool Sports has been lifted.
“It feels like the end of Rocky IV. This hasn’t been 100% confirmed but the Cold War may be over.”
Portnoy will be hoping that an official agreement between the two parties is reached so that he can be in attendance to watch his beloved team try and win their seventh Vince Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
Portnoy places huge bet on Patriots
The Patriots cruised their way to a 14-3 regular season record, with Vrabel firing his former team back into life having recorded back-to-back 4-13 campaigns in 2023 and 2024.

In the postseason, Maye and co dispatched the Los Angeles Chargers 16-3 in the before dismantling the Houston Texans 28-16 to set up an AFC Championship clash against the No. 1 seeded Denver Broncos.
In a snowy, and gritty, affair in the Mile High City, the Patriots clinched a 10-7 win over a Denver Broncos team who had Jarrett Stidham make his season debut under center after Bo Nix suffered a freak injury in the divisional round.
In pretty treacherous conditions, Maye had to rely on his legs rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown from 10 carries, including the game-clinching rush for a first down to set up victory formation.
The Patriots will now face Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Feb 8 in Santa Clara, California in what is a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX from 2014.
Portnoy has been so confident in his team all season long that he revealed he had placed a $50,000 futures bet on New England to win Super Bowl LX earlier on in the season.
Should they complete the championship run, the bet could return a staggering $1.8 million payout with the odds at the time north of +3500.
