Dan Orlovsky makes intriguing Brendan Sorsby NFL Draft prediction

The NFL could soon welcome Brendan Sorsby following his official departure from Texas Tech. The quarterback first received a controversial two game suspension despite gambling on live college football games. Now former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky weighed in on his supplemental draft potential.

The ESPN personality believes the now former Red Raiders quarterback will land this type of deal.

“I would imagine someone will use a fourth round pick on him,” Orlovsky posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Sorsby originally looked ready to play in 10 regular season games for the defending Big 12 champs. A Lubbock judge first ruled in his favor by barring the NCAA from preventing Sorsby of playing. This action eventually helped lead into the two-game suspension, but still allowed Sorbsy to play in 2026.

But the Big 12 applied pressure on Texas Tech amid the Sorsby controversy. The conference filed a massive 47-page complaint directed at TTU and Sorsby, including threatening sanctions.

The Big 12 wasn’t the only vocal critic. Colorado head coach Deion Sanders blasted the quarterback via ESPN.

“Somebody’s gambling on a sport they’re playing? You don’t think something’s wrong with that?” Sanders ranted. “Just say that to yourself: This guy on my team is gambling on the sport, in the competition, that we’re about to go out there and have. Something’s wrong with that.”

But now Sorsby can start his NFL career early. He brings four seasons of collegiate playing experience at both Indiana and Cincinnati. Sorsby thrived through the latter, though, and is coming off delivering a career-best 27 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Yet many scouts will bring up Sorsby’s gambling habits ahead of his supplemental draft entry.
