Crystal Palace vs Burnley predictions and betting tips – Glasner’s side looking up

Crystal Palace finally got off the mark in 2026 on Sunday, beating Brighton & Hove Albion away from home to take a giant step closer to Premier League safety.

Palace will now be targeting teams above them rather than looking over their shoulder. Will this be another successful night for the south Londoners, or can Burnley upset the odds?

Crystal Palace vs Burnley predictions

There is nothing quite like a victory over your arch-rivals to brighten the mood at a football club.

It has been a difficult couple of months for Crystal Palace. Going 12 games without a win in all competitions was tough enough, but Palace also lost their club captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City and learned that Oliver Glasner would depart in the summer.

The Austrian tactician could easily have exited Selhurst Park last month instead.

After a remarkable outburst in which he accused the board of “abandoning” the team, many felt Glasner’s position was untenable. But chairman Steve Parish took a deep breath and decided to keep hold of his coach, at least until May.

It was a risky move but one which could yet pay off. The relationship between Glasner and the supporters will perhaps never be as close as it was before his rant at the Stadium of Light, but he went a long way to making amends by masterminding Sunday’s success against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Brighton vs Palace rivalry is one which confuses outsiders, with the origin story more convoluted than most tales of mutual antipathy. But regardless of the history, there is no question the rivalry is keenly felt on both sides of the divide.

That is why Palace’s win at the Amex Stadium could prove to be such a significant moment in their season. In truth it was an even contest, but Ismaila Sarr took the big chance that came his way while Brighton missed their opportunities. That was the difference on the day.

With a nine-point lead over the bottom three, Palace are probably just two more wins away from safety. Should they beat Burnley in midweek, the Eagles may start to think about the possibility of a best ever Premier League finish of ninth or above.

Burnley, for their part, have more modest ambitions. At this point the Clarets are almost certainly playing for pride.

Having failed to win any of their last 16 top-flight matches, they are now 11 points adrift of safety. It would take a miracle for Scott Parker’s charges to get out of trouble from here.

“I think you see a team that is fragile at this present moment in time, for sure,” Parker admitted after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by West Ham United. That bodes ill for Wednesday evening in south London.

More Palace success

That win against Brighton has given Crystal Palace something to build on.

Their next two league matches are at home to Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the two lowest-ranked sides in the division. This is a great chance for Palace to kick on again.

Glasner’s side were almost back to their best defensively at Brighton. They gave very little away all afternoon on the south coast.

We should see more of the same here, especially as Burnley carry less of an attacking threat than Palace’s previous opponents.

A win and a clean sheet are both well within reach for the home team.

Goals on low end

Burnley are struggling at both ends of the field. Only Wolves have scored fewer goals, while the Clarets have the worst defensive record in the league.

Their lacklustre attack will not find it easy to break down the Crystal Palace rearguard on Wednesday.

Palace’s games, incidentally, are averaging just 2.2 goals per 90 minutes. That is the lowest figure in the division and one which suggests we will not see an action-packed, end-to-end encounter here.

One goal might even be enough to win this one, and we reckon there will be two strikes at most.

Strand Larsen off mark?

Jorgen Strand Larsen showed signs of promise on his Crystal Palace debut on Sunday.

There were moments when the former Wolves man gave up possession too easily, but he gave Palace a much-needed presence at centre-forward.

Jean-Philippe Mateta is still at Selhurst Park, but it looks like Strand Larsen is Palace’s new starting centre-forward.

The Norway international will be keen to get off the mark for his new club as soon as possible, and we could see it happen against Burnley’s porous backline.
