Colts’ Alec Pierce is benefitting from Keenan Allen signing in more ways than one
The Indianapolis Colts’ decision to sign veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen has been a welcome one for wideout Alec Pierce.
Allen, one of the greatest wideouts of his generation, inked a one-year, $3.32 million contract with the AFC South franchise in August. While his best days are behind him already, the 34-year-old Allen brings experience and depth to Indianapolis’ wide receiver room.
Pierce is widely viewed as the Colts’ No. 1 option downfield, but he knows he and the other receivers stand to benefit from Allen’s presence, on and off the field.
“It’s super special. … Walkthrough, he’s throwing little moves out there and stuff. So, I think I’m kind of learning and you just always watch that and try to pick up stuff from his game, steal from his game a little bit,” Pierce said on Thursday (h/t James Boyd of The Athletic).
A six-time Pro Bowler, Allen is coming off a one-year reunion with the Los Angeles Chargers. In 2025, he played in 17 games and recorded 777 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 81 catches and 122 targets for the Bolts. A year prior to that, he was with the Chicago Bears and recorded 744 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 70 receptions and 121 targets.
Pierce, who has just been taken off the physically unable to perform list following an offseason ankle surgery, can also learn about returning to action after dealing with an injury from Allen, who is a former Comeback Player of the Year Award winner.
The 26-year-old Pierce played in 15 games in 2025 and recorded 1,003 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 47 catches.
