Clippers rumors: The player LA would trade to Nuggets for Peyton Watson

As there has been trade interest from the Los Angeles Clippers for Denver Nuggets’ Peyton Watson, more details have been revealed to see what the team would trade for the guard. While the rumors around the Clippers and Watson have been constant, this NBA insider would reveal how clear a path the team has at getting the 23-year-old.

According to ClutchPoints’ NBA insider Brett Siegel and his latest intel on Watson, he has “a foot out the door” when it comes to Denver amid contract talks, and that Los Angeles is one of the teams that have interest in a sign-and-trade. Siegel would even say that the Clippers’ interest is “real” and are one of the teams that have the “clearest paths” to getting Watson.

In fact, Siegel would report that Los Angeles has already been “making it known” that the team would deal away Derrick Jones Jr. in a potential deal for Watson.

“The Clippers and Bucks have the clearest paths to landing Watson, with LA already making it known that they would trade veteran wing Derrick Jones Jr. in such a deal with Denver, sources told ClutchPoints,” Siegel wrote. “It is unknown whether the Clippers have made a first-round pick available in trade talks for Watson.”

“Such a move on Denver’s part would still require additional salary going out, which is where the Nnaji problem pops up again, especially if they were to add Jones from LA,” Siegel continued.

This past season for the Nuggets, Watson averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game to go along with shooting 49.1 percent from the field and 41.1 percent from three-point range. Looking to be a starter and get paid for his value in his own eyes, it appears that the Clippers would be one of the teams to do so, as it remains to be seen how this situation is resolved and if Los Angeles ends up with the UCLA product.
