Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes sparks buzz with post after OTA return
OTAs are officially underway for the Kansas City Chiefs, as the team gets an early jump in preparing for the 2026-27 campaign. The quarterback position is a bit of a concern at the moment, as Patrick Mahomes is working his way back from a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. Despite that, Mahomes got the fanbase excited with one post on X about his participation in Tuesday’s practice.
The Chiefs shared a short video of the 30-year-old quarterback dropping back and throwing a pass in slow-motion. You can see the protective wear Mahomes has on his left leg, but he looks great in the clip shared on social media.

Shortly after that video was posted online, Patrick Mahomes shared a post of his own. He didn’t share a single word and instead posted the same clock emoji the Chiefs used in their post, indicating it’s only a matter of time before he officially returns to action.

While the post is exciting, a Week 1 start is not guaranteed for the nine-year veteran. Mahomes suffered the injury during the Chiefs’ 16-13 Week 15 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, forcing the three-time Super Bowl champion to miss the final three games of the regular season.
Things didn’t go the Chiefs’ way last year, as the club missed out on the playoffs entirely for the first time since the 2014-15 season. Patrick Mahomes was still good, though, ending the campaign with 3,587 passing yards and 22 touchdowns while completing 62.7% of his pass attempts. It also marked the fifth-straight year Mahomes recorded double-digit interceptions.
