Chelsea vs Brighton predictions
All the talk about Chelsea heading into the new season surrounded their front three of Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro.
It’s fair to say they lived up to their billing and if this is the start of things to come, Chelsea fans have every right to be excited.
All three players in Xabi Alonso’s new-look front line were on the scoresheet in Monday night’s impressive 3-2 win away to Fulham.
It took just 31 seconds for the Blues to take the lead through Pedro, with Cole Palmer providing the assist.
Morgan Rogers then opened his Chelsea account, scoring after 41 minutes to put the Blues back in front just before half-time.
However, it was Cole Palmer who was the star of the show and he capped a remarkable performance by scoring the winner after 49 minutes.
Chelsea continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-0 win over Luton Town in the EFL Cup on Thursday.
Brighton also got off to a flying start last weekend with a sensational 4-0 win over Aston Villa.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side romped to the three points, with all four goals coming inside the opening 31 minutes. Once Joao Gomes saw red for Villa after 40 minutes the match was effectively over.
What made this fast start to the season all the more impressive is that the Seagulls have again been raided for some of their star players, with Jan Paul van Hecke and Danny Welbeck both leaving in the summer.
The Seagulls then warmed up for Chelsea by securing qualification for the Conference League group phase with a 4-0 win over Tromso on Thursday.
Chelsea vs Brighton tips
Both teams began the season impressively last weekend and will be looking to build on their wins. Our Chelsea vs Brighton betting tips follow:
Chelsea to avenge last season’s loss
Chelsea did look a bit suspect at the back against Fulham, but they just looked so good going forward.
Fulham’s first goal was a clear goalkeeping error, and without it, the Blues probably would have won far more comfortably.
Cole Palmer looked to be flying on Monday, and if he can repeat that form, he should lead the Blues to back-to-back victories.
Brighton will be no pushovers, but with home advantage, we expect to see Chelsea win.
Back Chelsea to win at 5/6 with SBK
Open match should lead to goals
After scoring four times against Villa, we have to assume that Brighton will offer an attacking threat against Chelsea.
The Seagulls aren’t the sort of team to sit back and just defend, hoping to get a point.
They’ve also scored two or more goals in their previous four Premier League visits to the Bridge, so the trip to London should hold no fears for them.
Chelsea have goals in them and their new-look attacking trio looks set to score plenty this season.
Xabi Alonso’s team will play on the front foot, but in doing this they are likely to be vulnerable at the back, leading to goals at both ends.
Go for over 2.5 goals and both teams to score at 17/20 with Unibet
Rogers to continue his impressive start
With Brighton old boy Danny Welbeck now at Stamford Bridge, it was very tempting to back him to score or assist at 5/6.
However, Welbeck is almost certain to start on the bench, so we’re looking elsewhere for better value.
One statistic that stood out from last week’s match against Fulham was the five chances created by Morgan Rogers – the most in the Premier League on Matchday 1.
The summer arrival looked totally at ease playing with his new teammates and he will be keen to show the Stamford Bridge faithful how good he is.
We’re backing him to provide one or more assists.
Back Morgan Rogers to provide 1+ assist at 29/10 with William Hill
