Celtics’ Jayson Tatum shares uplifting message for injured Donte DiVincenzo

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is in the middle of an inspiring comeback from an Achilles injury he suffered in last season’s playoffs. Since his quick return, he has been a man on a mission, eager to bounce back and help the Celtics reclaim the throne.

It looked like his life crumbled when he was sidelined in the second round against the New York Knicks, which practically doomed the Celtics. Tatum, however, pushed himself during his rehabilitation, allowing him to rejoin the team earlier than expected.

Now, with Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVicenzo suffering an Achilles injury, Tatum said he will make sure to extend his support.

“It was tough seeing that. I never want anybody to go through that injury,” said Tatum.

“I only know him from competing against him and things like that, but I know for a fact that I’m going to reach out to him at some point.”

Tatum, who helped Boston beat the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 4 on Sunday, stressed that he does not want anyone to get hurt, let alone suffer a serious injury.

“I was definitely sick to my stomach yesterday, seeing him go down. Because I know it, I know exactly how he’s feeling, I know exactly what he has to go through. But now, I’m a resource, reach out to him. He has me in his corner, whether he likes it or not. So I’ll definitely reach out to him soon,” added Tatum.

The six-time All-Star had 30 points, including five three-pointers, seven rebounds, and 11 assists against the 76ers. The Celtics are now just a win away from advancing to the second round.

DiVincenzo suffered his Achilles injury in their win against the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 on Saturday. He is out indefinitely.
