Caleb Wilson’s humble message after finally realizing his NBA dream
The Chicago Bulls got everything they could have asked for at the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. As anticipated, they drafted North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson as the No.4 pick.
After his name was called and shaking hands with Commissioner Adam Silver, Wilson soaked it all in with his family by his side, per NBA on ESPN. He provided some humble words that reflect his mindset.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to play in the NBA,” he said.

Despite all the speculation about trading up, the Bulls stayed firm. They are getting a player that represents the SLAP acronym put forward by the new VP of Basketball Operations, Bryson Graham. Wilson is a highly touted two-versatile player who is athletic, crashes the boards, can push the tempo, attack the rim, and plays with excitement and flair.
In his only year at North Carolina, Wilson averaged 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. He also shot 57.8% from the field.
There had been hints that Wilson was looking forward to come to Chicago before the draft. During the NBA Finals, Wilson spoke to ESPN about the tradition of Tar Heels making a difference in Chicago. Among those include Michael Jordan, Scott Williams, and Coby White.
The drafting of Wilson caps off what has been so far a productive offseason for the Bulls. They hired Graham as their new VP of Basketball Operations. Then, they hired a new head coach in Tiago Splitter. Tuesday morning, they saved cap space by acquiring center Nic Claxton in a three-way trade.
Wilson was the icing on the cake.
