Bulls reporter calls out ‘talking heads that don’t know ball’ over Darius Acuff Jr. vs. Cameron Boozer take
On Sunday afternoon, the 2026 NBA Draft lottery took place, and the Chicago Bulls ended up walking away with the fourth pick in the draft, a strong result for the franchise considering their odds coming in. The Bulls will now look to add another intriguing talent to the mix after a tough 2025-26 that was followed by some major changes in the organization.
Recently, Chicago radio host David Haugh of 670 The Score opined that the Bulls might have to choose between Duke star Cam Boozer and Arkansas star Darius Acuff Jr., stating that Acuff “might be hard to pass up,” per 104.3 The Score on X, formerly Twitter.
However, one person not on board with that sentiment is Bulls insider Joe Cowley.
“Problem is there are talking heads in Chicago that don’t know ball, selling themselves on Acuff at No. 4. Ignore them. Talking puppets,” wrote Cowley on X.
“I love Acuff … and if the Bulls were picking 5, I’m in. But this is a big man’s league. Steph and Zeke the only small guards to win rings … and you have to build an exact team around that. Boozer or Caleb (Wilson) … no brainers,” he added.
AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson are expected by most to be the first two names off the board, and as Cowley referenced, Caleb Wilson and Cam Boozer will likely be the next two in line, meaning one of them will be falling to Chicago.
For a Bulls team that assembled a bizarre logjam of backcourt players at the trade deadline last year, the prospect of adding yet another small guard with defensive issues to the mix, even if he’s as talented as Acuff appeared to be during his time at Arkansas, might not be the wisest decision.
The 2026 NBA Draft is slated to get underway in late June.
