Brydon Carse dropped from England squad after being handcuffed by police outside nightclub

Brydon Carse has been dropped from the England squad for the second Test against Pakistan.

Sonny Baker has subsequently been drafted in as his replacement.

ECB issues statement on Brydon Carse

“Following a referral from the ECB, the Cricket Regulator have confirmed that they will investigate events on Saturday night in Derby,” a ECB statement read.

“Brydon Carse will no longer be available for selection for the Second Men’s Rothesay Test Match while this investigation is ongoing and the full facts are obtained.

“Brydon will be replaced in the squad for this match by Sonny Baker.”

Baker only made his Test debut for England earlier this summer against New Zealand.

He took three wickets in the second Test against the Black Caps but conceded 161 runs.

What did Brydon Carse do to get axed from England’s squad for the second Test?

The drastic action comes less than 24 hours after footage emerged of Carse being led away from a nightclub by police in Derby.

Footage of the incident involving Carse first emerged on Sunday evening.

In the clip, Carse is seen in handcuffs while his England and Durham teammate Matthew Potts attempts to speak with him.

Former England skipper Ben Stokes is also captured in the video.

It is understood Carse was handcuffed following a dispute with a nightclub bouncer over re-entering a venue.

The 31-year-old pace bowler later returned to the team hotel and was released without charge.

Carse’s axing is an unwelcome distraction for England’s cricketers ahead of the second Test against Pakistan, which gets underway on Thursday at Lord’s.

How did England’s first Test against Pakistan go?

England won the opener of the three-Test series in remarkably comfortable fashion at Headingley.

In the first Test of the post-Bazball era, England trounced the tourists by an innings and 103 runs within three days.

Although none of England’s batting line-up managed to hit triple figures in the first Test, Jordan Cox, Harry Brook, Dan Lawrence and Joe Root, who has been restored as captain following Stokes’ retirement, all scored half-centuries.

Carse had been named to the England squad for the opening Test but was an unused member.

Instead, he turned out for Durham in a County Championship match against Derby and snared two wickets.
