Brittany Mahomes leads tributes as GoFundMe launched following tragic death of former Mahomes and Kelce teammate

Tributes have poured in following the death of Super Bowl champion Jordan Devey.

The former NFL guard, who played with the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills across a seven year career, died by suicide aged 38.

His heartbroken wife confirmed the news in an emotional social media post shared Friday.

“Today would have been our 15th year anniversary,” Linsey Devey wrote on Instagram.

“We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs.

“We brought four beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles, and compassion.

“You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you.

“And as you said in your last words to me, ‘we’ll talk soon.’

Devey’s post also included a link to a GoFundMe page, which followers can donate to and help ease the financial burdens that weigh on the family.

The appeal confirms that Jordan ‘took his own life’ and that the family he left behind face ‘overwhelming’ emotional and financial challenges, including mounting medical expenses.

It has a goal of $200,000 and at the time of writing, was closing in on six figures.

Devey entered the NFL in 2013, when he signed with the Baltimore Ravens after going undrafted out of Memphis.

He went on to join the Patriots’ practice squad in September of that year, and played six regular-season games in 2014, before the team went on to win Super Bowl XLIX over the Seattle Seahawks.

In 2015, he was traded to the 49ers before being waived, and was picked up by the Chiefs in 2016.

Devey played three seasons at Arrowhead Stadium, alongside franchise superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Tributes pour in for former NFL star Jordan Devey

Following news of his passing, Patrick’s wife Brittany led tributes to her husband’s former teammate.

“If you feel so inclined to help someone today, please let it be this family!” she wrote on her Instagram story, sharing Devey’s GoFundMe link.

“This family is going through an incredibly devastating time and any love, prayers or donations sent their way would be such a blessing!”

Tributes have also been paid to Devey, who finished his career with stints at the Raiders and Bills, from other NFL names.

“Another NFL brother lost to the mental health battle. Rest in peace Jordan Devey. I promise this s*** is very real. It’s dark, it’s lonely, it’s cold, and this s*** affects every part of your life,” former NFL nose tackle Breiden Fehoko said on X.

“He was an outstanding teammate and an even better father and husband! May God heal your hearts and souls during this time,” 49ers OT Brandon Parker wrote, responding to Linsey’s Instagram post.

“Sending love and light! Praying for peace in this difficult time,” offensive lineman Cameron Erving wrote.
