Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal predictions and betting tips – Another test in title race

It was another dramatic weekend in the Premier League title race, but while neither Arsenal nor Manchester City had everything their own way, there was no substantive change at the top of the table.

And so to the midweek round of fixtures, which sees Arsenal head to the south coast. Will Brighton & Hove Albion do City a favour?

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal predictions

The Premier League title race is exactly where it was before the weekend’s action, but that does not mean Saturday and Sunday were free of drama.

For the third matchday in a row, Manchester City played before Arsenal. A trip to Leeds United always looked like a potential banana skin, and City were not at the races early on.

Had Leeds been more clinical with the chances they created, they could easily have scored once or twice in the opening 30 minutes or so.

As it was, Leeds were wasteful in front of goal, allowing City to show them how it is done. A sharp move down the left culminated in Antoine Semenyo sweeping the ball home in first-half stoppage time, giving City a precious lead.

Pep Guardiola’s team were much improved after the interval. They took the sting out of the Elland Road crowd by controlling the game and giving up very few opportunities. Leeds did not produce a single shot on target in the second period, as City held on for all three points.

Arsenal thus had to respond on Sunday – and that is what they did. Again, it was not a perfect performance from the league leaders, but two goals from set pieces helped them edge out Chelsea 2-1.

It was an even affair in terms of chances created, but Arsenal did what all title contenders must do on a regular basis: win matches even when you are not entirely dominant.

“It was a big win,” Mikel Arteta said afterwards. “I was very happy for big parts of the game and the performance that we put in against a top side, coming after a London derby and the expectations and the will that we have to continue to win.

“Winning those big games is so difficult, so big credit to the boys for what they’re doing and so consistently. We want to recover now really well, keep that energy and now [it] is a big game coming up on Wednesday, so let’s get ready for it.”

This trip to the Amex Stadium looks like a tougher assignment now than it did a few weeks back.

Brighton & Hove Albion have emerged from their rut courtesy of back-to-back victories over Brentford and Nottingham Forest. All of a sudden, the Seagulls have their eyes on a European place. That makes them dangerous.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Arsenal betting tips

Arsenal will be aiming to take another step towards the Premier League title by winning at the Amex Stadium.

Arsenal to do business

Arsenal and Manchester City play at the same time on Wednesday night, a rare occurrence for two title contenders at this stage of the campaign.

Unless something spectacular is happening at the Etihad Stadium, Arsenal’s players are unlikely to be aware of what is going on in City’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners will be fully focused on the task at hand. Brighton are capable of giving them something to think about, but Arsenal should ultimately prove too strong.

Arteta’s men have struggled against low blocks at times this term, but Brighton will come out and play – and that could play into Arsenal’s hands.

No clean sheets here

Arsenal won the set-piece battle against Chelsea on Sunday, but they did concede from a corner kick.

It was the fourth consecutive Premier League game in which Arsenal failed to keep a clean sheet. That is their longest run without a shut-out since January 2025.

Brighton have had their fair share of attacking issues at different points of the season, but they have been more effective in forward areas of late.

Fabian Hurzeler’s charges struck twice against both Brentford and Forest, and we like their chances of making the net bulge in this meeting with Arsenal.

Rice to have impact

Arsenal are the most effective team in the Premier League from set-pieces, a big reason for which is Declan Rice’s wicked delivery.

Rice regularly creates chances for his colleagues with his crosses from dead balls, with the England international setting up Jurrien Timber on Sunday.

Rice also poses a threat from open play with his driving runs forward from midfield. He has scored four league goals and provided five assists, a joint-high in Arteta’s squad.

At the odds available, it is worth a punt on Rice being directly involved in an Arsenal goal on Wednesday.
