Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish diagnosed with cancer as statement released
Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has been diagnosed with cancer.
The 75-year-old posted on social media on Tuesday to reveal that he is undergoing treatment for an illness – which then led to a longer statement on his health situation.

Dalglish said: “As my inadvertent social media post has indicated, I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
“Ideally, this would have remained private because that’s the way it should be, but my useless technology skills have forced my hand.
“Obviously I did not mean to make this matter public so I would appreciate it if the privacy of my family and myself are respected.
“As ever, thank you to the wonderful medical staff who have shown incredible care and discretion, not just for me but for many, many others. They are a credit to themselves.”
Liverpool responded with a message of support for their eighth-highest goalscorer in history.
The club said: “We are all with you Sir Kenny.
“The support, best wishes and love of everyone at Liverpool FC are, and will be, with Sir Kenny and his family.
“The club would also like to underscore his request for privacy moving forward.”
King Kenny
Dalglish established himself as one of the greatest players in history during an iconic 13-year stint as a Liverpool player.
He joined in 1977 after an incredible nine-year spell at Celtic, where he won four league titles and eight major trophies in total.

Dalglish went on to win three European Cups, six league titles and an FA Cup with the Reds.
Scoring 172 goals in total, many considered the former striker to be the greatest player in one of English football’s most famous teams.
At international level, Dalglish holds the two most coveted individual records for Scotland.
He boasts the most caps with 102 and the joint-most goals alongside Denis Law with 30.
Dalglish added to his legendary status at Anfield when he took over as manager in 1985, aged 34.
Stepping in after the Heysel Stadium disaster, Dalglish would inspire the club to three more league titles and two FA Cup wins.

Although, the Scot’s most famous managerial achievement arguably came at Blackburn Rovers, where he pulled off a miraculous Premier League title triumph in the 1994/95 season.
He also managed at Newcastle and Celtic during his career – which ended in 2012 after his second stint at Liverpool.
More tributes
Along with Liverpool, Newcastle reached out with a message of support for Dalglish.
The Magpies said: “Everyone at Newcastle United extends love and best wishes to Sir Kenny Dalglish and his family following his cancer diagnosis.”
Dalglish’s son, Paul, posted on Instagram to react publicly to the news.
He said: “My Dad, my best mate, my hero.
“You are s*** on social media but you are the strongest man I know, you got this. I love you.”
