Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski drops confident take after dominant effort vs. Cardinals

Jacob Misiorowski was quite high on his record-setting performances on the mound following the Milwaukee Brewers’ win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday evening.

Misiorowski threw 57 pitches of at least 100 mph, the most by any individual in a single game since pitch tracking began in 2008. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene held the previous record for 100-mph pitches in a single game with 47 against St. Louis on Sept. 17, 2022.

Misiorowski reached 101 mph on 40 of his 96 pitches. He got to 102 mph on 22 pitches and had nine of at least 103. His top velocity was 103.4 mph, which he reached three times. Nine of his 12 strikeouts came on pitches that reached 100 mph, tying the single-game record that Greene set against St. Louis in 2022.

Misiorowski reflected on his achievement after the game, via reporter Todd Rosiak. What he said shows how aware he is about his skillset as a pitcher.

“That’s what I do,” Misiorowski said. “I throw hard.”

“I feel like that’s how it should be every day, I feel like that’s where I’m at, I think that’s just my normal… The tempo felt like I got it on and ready to go, so I kind of rode the wave on the mound and got it figured out.”

How Jacob Misiorowski, Brewers played against Cardinals

Jacob Misiorowski was dominant on the mound as he led the Brewers to a solid 5-1 win over the Cardinals to start the series.

Milwaukee landed the first punch by scoring three runs in the first innings of the game. Misiorowski and the defense excelled at keeping St. Louis silent, only giving up the lone run in the sixth frame.

Milwaukee improved to a 31-20 record on the season, controlling the top spot in the NL Central Division standings. They are above the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs at the moment.

The Brewers look to obtain the series win when they host the Cardinals in Game 2. The contest takes place on May 26 at 7:40 p.m. ET.
