Brewers acquire Bo Naylor in trade with Guardians

The Milwaukee Brewers are making moves to improve their roster, as the Major League Baseball trade deadline fast approaches. Milwaukee is trading with the Cleveland Guardians for catcher Bo Naylor, per New York Post reporter Jon Heyman.

Relief pitcher Craig Yoho is going to Cleveland as part of the deal, which also involves other players.

“Codi Heuer also goes to Brewers in deal and Guardians receive Blake Perkins, who will go to Triple-A,” Heyman posted to X, formerly Twitter.

The Brewers currently lead the National League Central, and look to return to the Major League Baseball Playoffs this fall. Cleveland is meanwhile fighting it out in the American League Central.

This season, Naylor is hitting at a .143 batting average with two home runs. The catcher also has seven RBIs on the season. He has posted just 84 at-bats this year.

Yoho meanwhile has been an effective part in Milwaukee’s bullpen this season. He has a 3.15 ERA on the campaign. Yoho has appeared in 15 games on the season, and has two wins.

Heading into Saturday, Cleveland has a 56-55 record. The team is just three games behind first place though in the division standings. On Saturday, Cleveland is in action against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Guardians clearly hope this move will help them. Even though the team has struggled as of late, the club can still turn it around and win the AL Central.

The Brewers meanwhile have a comfortable lead in the NL Central. Milwaukee is 68-41 on the year. The team plays the Los Angeles Angels Saturday night.
