Boxer who dropped Tyson Fury but was brutally KO’d by Anthony Joshua predicts fight winner

Francis Ngannou is in a better position than most to assess who would win in a fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

The former UFC heavyweight turned his hand to the squared circle, and faced the two biggest British heavyweight superstars in consecutive bouts.

Ngannou dropped but was narrowly beaten by Fury, before Joshua knocked him out cold in a brutal defeat.

It has now been confirmed the pair will meet in a date being eyed for October, having signed a deal on the basis that Joshua first wins his warm-up fight.

Ngannou has now cast an early prediction, and believes the Gypsy King’s style gives him a narrow edge.

He told The Schmo: “If I have to favour somebody it’s going to be very slight.

” I will go for Fury, because he is very slick.

” He does well with professional boxing, he only doesn’t understand [how to deal with an opponent] when it’s not a pro boxer.”

This verdict may come as a surprise given how Ngannou fared against both.

But Fury is still considered one of the heavyweight elite, and got back to winning ways over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April.

Fury and Joshua’s long-awaited meeting has been on the cards for almost a decade.

And it appears that we are closer than ever to the pair touching gloves, in what would be a monumental global sporting event.

Fury vs Joshua plan – the details

Joshua will first face Kristian Prenga in July to brush off any cobwebs.

But providing he gets through the bout, a deal to face Fury is in the pipeline, with just a final date and venue to be confirmed.

Frank Warren told talkSPORT that a fight in October at Wembley Stadium is the current preferred outcome.

“Tyson signed up for it months ago but AJ has now done it and we are on,” he explained.

“It will be made some time in October by the looks of it. It is a great fight.

“Tyson may want another fight to keep him ticking over, we will see.

“I don’t see the fight going on until October. It will be to do with the availability of the venue.

“I think Wembley is favourite to host it.”
