Bob Arum’s Top Rank sign DAZN broadcast deal in big boost for US boxing

US promotional outfit Top Rank have finally found a home for their talented stable.

Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum‘s outfit parted ways with ESPN as their broadcast deal ended after their final show last July.

Ever since, the promotion have been in negotiations with several broadcasters over what platform their events, largely on American shores, will land.

And after nearly a year out of action on broadcast platforms, Ring Magazine have revealed that they have inked a new deal with DAZN.

The deal will see them show eight to ten cards a year on the streaming service, with the legendary promotional outfit to be paid license fees of $1 million and $1.25 million for each event.

Discussions had been held over a year with Top Rank kingpin Todd duBoef spearheading negotiations.

Other broadcasters were also discussed for the stable full of rising stars to feature on including HBO Max, but haven’t materialised.

It will see them return to our screens in a big boost for US boxing, having only produced shows internally in recent months.

Although it won’t be as lucrative of a deal as they shared with ESPN, it will be a huge helping hand to get the activity of their fighters back on the up.

It will see them join a growing stable of promoters on DAZN which include Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions in the US market.

Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Boxing and Frank Warren‘s Queensberry Promotions also share big contracts with the platform.

Top Rank will also be able to put their fighters on mega Saudi bills which are bankrolled by Ring Magazine and Riyadh Season.

Despite being without a TV deal, Top Rank still possess a strong depth of squared circle talent on their roster.

They still have some high-selling superstars on their books including Teofimo Lopez, Keyshawn Davis and Bruce Carrington.

And they also have an array of world champions including the likes of Emmanuel Navarette, Xander Zayas, Janibek Alimkhanuly and Abdullahm Mason.

Top Rank have also invested in bright young talent with heavyweight Richard Torrez Jr close to breaking into the big time at world level.

Jared Anderson is still on the roster, but has been linked with a switch to Queensberry Promotions in recent weeks.
