Blue Jays’ Ernie Clement speaks out on revenge play against Andy Pages
The American League All-Stars must be on cloud nine after taking a 4-0 win over the National League All-Stars in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. But for Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement, who garnered the most votes among all AL All-Stars (only second overall, behind Shohei Ohtani), he must be feeling even more thrilled than most. After all, he did get some sort of revenge on Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Pages came to the plate with two outs and nobody on for the NL. The Dodgers outfielder sent a ball back up the middle for what looked like a surefire base hit. However, Clement, who was on second base, tracked the ball going to his right and fired an accurate throw to first to nail Pages.
After the All-Star Game, the Blue Jays infielder was honest, saying that he wanted to get back at Pages for stealing away what would have been a walk-off hit in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series.
“I had to get him back for what he did to us in the World Series,” Clement jokingly said, via Sportsnet.

Clement then said that he has a ton of respect for Pages and how he approaches the game.
“It’s all love. I have a lot of admiration for the way he plays the game. Pages, just seems like a good dude. He made one of the best plays in postseason history and World Series history given the circumstances. You know, just getting him back a little bit. It felt pretty good,” Clement added.
The Blue Jays had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth when Clement came on. He then sent the ball to deep left field, forcing Pages, the center fielder, and Kiké Hernández, the left fielder, to backtrack all the way to the warning track. Pages then bowled Hernandez over just so he could make the catch, sending the game to extras where the Dodgers would end up winning it all.
Toronto is currently in last place in the AL East with a 45-51 record.
