Then Toronto Blue Jays have not lived up to expectations this season after coming within one game of a World Series title last season, and now their problems are compounding. On Sunday, starting pitcher Dylan Cease was pulled from his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates with an apparent injury, per Keegan Matheson of The Athletic.
Cease pitched just 4.2 innings, giving up four hits and two runs to Pittsburgh before exiting with the Jays trailing 2-1. Mason Fluharty took his place and is trying to keep Toronto in the game in his absence.
It’s currently unclear what Cease’s injury is or what his status will be moving forward.
