Birmingham vs Leeds predictions
Birmingham are just a single point outside the Championship top six, but attention will turn to the FA Cup fourth round this weekend. The Blues hoping to go one better than last year and make the draw for the fifth round.
They met Premier League competition at this stage last season, going toe-to-toe with Newcastle United in an enthralling encounter that ultimately ended 3-2 to the Magpies.
Chris Davies’ side scored the first goal in that match after only 40 seconds. With the home crowd right behind them, it may not be the worst idea to back them to break the deadlock in this one either.
In their most recent victory, a 2-1 win over Leicester. Ibrahim Osman opened the scoring in the third minute. They have also scored goals in the 6th, 17th and 23rd minute in 2026, showcasing their ability to start fast.
Leeds, though, have shown a mix of quality and real desire to scrap for Premier League survival since the turn of the year. Which has lifted themselves six points clear of the drop zone.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin should come back into contention of this fixture, with Noah Okafor, Lukas Nmecha and Brenden Aaronson chipping in with crucial contributions too.
Whether the FA Cup is seen as an unwanted distraction or a welcome respite could be key to the outcome of this match.
Both sides are nursing injury worries, with Birmingham having nine players missing in their league match against West Brom in midweek.
Leeds will have to do without midfielders Anton Stach and Pascal Struijk, not going to be ready in time for the weekend. Manager Daniel Farke may well go with wing-backs again, which helped his side pick up a point at Chelsea on Tuesday.
Birmingham vs Leeds betting tips
Birmingham host Leeds in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, the same stage they reached last season. So can they go one better this time round?
Osman to find the net again
Brighton loanee Ibrahim Osman is having his first taste of English football, having had spells at Feyenoord and Auxerre in recent years.
The 21-year-old can be a livewire and offers another dimension to Davies’ attacking options and his unpredictability could prove fruitful.
Set pieces crucial
Birmingham’s fast start could also bring set pieces into play. If they can gain attacking territory in the first 30 minutes, it could reap reward with opportunities from corners and free kicks. Which could cause Leeds some serious problems.
Aaronson has really come to fore in a Leeds shirt this season. His purple patch in front of goal could well continue, especially if both teams are still pushing late in the game.
