Behind-the-scenes look at Howie Roseman’s trade with Cowboys to steal Makai Lemon from Steelers

The Philadelphia Eagles worked their magic again during the 2026 NFL Draft. Philadelphia pulled off a few exciting trades during the draft, acquiring Jonathan Greenard and moving up for Makai Lemon in the first round. New footage gives fans an inside look at how it all went down.

The NFL documentary “The Pick Is In” debuted on Sunday on ESPN. It offers fans an inside look at the three-day event from the perspective of front office personnel on multiple teams.

The documentary followed the Eagles and Cowboys, showing all of the details from their trade involving Lemon in the first round.

Cowboys co-owner and COO Stephen Jones spearheaded the negotiations with the Eagles. He knew that if he reached out too quickly, Howie Roseman would make him pay a higher price.

“I will. He’s gonna, if he calls we’re gonna be giving them the sixth. I’m hoping he’ll call and say we’ll do it for two fours,” Jones explained. “We got time, we got a few minutes. We’re not like we’re down to 20 seconds we were.”

The documentary showed Jones and Roseman negotiating the terms of the trade before ultimately making a deal.

The Eagles sent two fourth-round picks (114th and 137th overall) in exchange for a 2027 seventh-round pick to move up for Lemon.

There was also footage of Lemon receiving his call from the Steelers before realizing that the Eagles were calling him.

“Hey why’s Philly calling me?” Lemon said into his phone. Moments later, his family members told him that Philadelphia just traded up for him.

The Eagles are thrilled that they landed the player of their dreams. It will be exciting to see how Lemon performs during his rookie season later this fall.
