Athletics’ Nick Kurtz drops ‘rollercoaster’ confession after crushing another home run vs. Giants
The Athletics earned a big 5-2 win over the San Francisco Giants on Friday, giving the club its 23rd win of the season and keeping them in first place in the AL West. Nick Kurtz hit another home run during the contest, making it his third in three games. However, after the victory, the second-year pro admitted this season has been a bit of a roller coaster for him.
While answering a question about his recent success, Kurtz claimed that he had trouble making contact with the ball to begin the campaign, according to Sean Cunningham of NBC Sacramento. The 23-year-old first baseman stated that he’s been able to figure things out as the season progresses, as he seems to be settling in for the Athletics in mid-May.
“I’ve been trying to [hit home runs] all year,” said Kurtz. “It just doesn’t happen. I’ve just been feeling better. Batting practice, I’m working with [hitting coach, Darren] Bush and other people, and I’m just starting to come together a little bit. Sometimes it just kind of takes time throughout the season. You might come out hot, you might be cold, and then you get hot. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, feelings, all the time at the plate.”

Nick Kurtz is seemingly in the middle of his hot streak right now. In his last three games, he’s recorded five hits, three home runs, and eight RBIs through 10 at-bats. That’s a significant jump in production compared to what he’s previously been doing at the plate this season.
The Athletics star will have a chance to extend his home run streak to four games on Saturday. The club will be taking on the Giants at 9:40 p.m. EST for the second contest in the three-game series.
