After LeBron James left LA to join the Philadelphia 76ers, the additional trade picture for the Lakers became clear. With the franchise cornerstone's departure, it was almost clear that at least one more name would be on the roll.

Bronny James was one of the players to get attention on and off the trade block. While there wasn’t a clear outlook of what that proposal would look like, Heavy’s Sean Deveney recently reported that James Jr. is on the list of a couple of teams.

“The team had interest in developing Bronny James not as the son of a Hall of Fame father but as a 3-and-D point guard who can defend a few positions, knock down shots, and run the offense as No. 3 point guard. And they’re doing that,” Deveney wrote.

Additionally, the NBA insider also cited an internal source who said that, “There’s definitely interest there. He’s gotten much better in a short period. He knows his role, and it’s hard to find young guys who just want to excel in their role.”

The Lakers currently have 16 players on their active roster and need to get down to 15. As ClutchPoints’ Senior NBA Reporter Brett Siegel recently reported, Dalton Knecht has been viewed as the most likely player to be moved.

However, James should not be completely ruled out as a trade candidate.

The Lakers have been developing James as a young guard who can defend multiple positions, make shots, and eventually handle some point guard responsibilities.

Still, a James trade would not necessarily be the Lakers' preferred solution to their roster crunch. The expectation remains that Knecht could be the player most likely to leave if Los Angeles does not complete a larger consolidation trade.
