The Atlanta Falcons (1-2) and New Orleans Saints (1-2) headline Monday Night Football in a battle of NFC South contenders. Atlanta is coming off a 35-14 win over Green Bay on Thursday Night Football, so they have the slight rest advantage in back-to-back primetime games. New Orleans is fresh off a 35-27 loss to Las Vegas where they committed four turnovers and blew a 27-22 lead.

New Orleans is looking for a cleaner effort in Week 4. Tyler Shough lost two fumbles, threw an interception, and Juwan Johnson fumbled as well. Shough did toss a career-high four touchdowns and Johnson caught two of those, so it wasn’t all doom and gloom with the Saints offense. The Saints averaged 5.3 yards per and ran 72 plays, the second-most on the season behind 86 in the season-opener. New Orleans will try to get off to a quick start as they’ve trailed at the half in all three games and allowed 37 first half points, including 16 last week.

Atlanta looked much better offensively with Michael Penix. The Falcons had one touchdown through two weeks and scored five times against Green Bay on Thursday Night Football. Atlanta enters the week rank second in success rate on defense and ranks fifth in points per possession allowed (1.59). The Falcons defense has been the backbone of this team so far, but with Penix back, the offensive stars showed up and stepped up Drake London caught nine out of 10 passes for 194 yards versus Green Bay and Bijan Robinson ran wild with 194 yards (213 total yards) and two touchdowns on 29 carries.

Let’s dive into the numbers and see if we can’t find an additional sweat or two.

Expert picks & predictions for Falcons at Saints

Vaughn Dalzell (@VmoneySports) leans the Under in a divisional matchup:

“The 35 points that Atlanta scored against the Packers won’t be a weekly occurrence nor will the Saints 27 versus the Raiders. The last three meetings resulted in 37 or fewer points and went Under in three of the last four in New Orleans. I would have to lean the Under and expect the familiarity of these teams to lean toward an Under with multiple turnovers between the two offenses.”
