Mississippi State football received an important update on star quarterback Kamario Taylor after he left Saturday’s game against Alabama with a lower-body injury.
Bulldogs head coach Jeff Lebby said Taylor is day-to-day after Mississippi State’s 56-23 loss to the Crimson Tide. Taylor left the game early in the fourth quarter, raising concerns about his availability.
ESPN reporter Alex Scarborough provided the latest comments from Coach Lebby about Taylor’s status, not offering anything concrete about Taylor's return.
“We'll let the injury report that Wednesday of LSU speak to where we're at,” Lebby said.
Taylor first hurt his lower leg during Mississippi State’s game against Missouri last week. Even with the injury, he showed a lot of toughness by playing against Alabama. Lebby praised Taylor’s attitude and leadership, noting how much he fought through the week.

After Taylor left the game, Mississippi State brought in backup quarterback Parker Puckett.
The Bulldogs have a bye week before their next game, which gives Taylor extra time to recover. Mississippi State is set to play LSU on Oct. 17, so Taylor’s recovery will be a key story before the SEC matchup.
Taylor’s toughness has already impressed his coach, but Mississippi State hopes their starting quarterback can fully recover before returning to play. As a result, everyone will be watching Taylor’s recovery over the next two weeks.
