Earlier this year at UFC 329, Conor McGregor made his long-awaited MMA return. Coming back after a string of injuries and controversies, McGregor faced off against Max Holloway. However, his comeback lasted mere moments before he came down with an ACL injury.
Ruled out of the fight, McGregor soon underwent surgery and is currently awaiting his comeback. One of McGregor's closest friends and sparring partner, Dillon Danis, recently provided a major update regarding McGregor's injury.
“Obviously, after the fight you could only imagine how someone could feel coming [back] after five years and that happening that fast,” Danis told MMA Fighting's Mike Heck. “He was in a dark place. There's no one that will tell him he's not fighting again, you're never going to be the same, all the bullshit that everybody says; when that guy has his head on something, it's blinders”
McGregor has just one fight left in his UFC contract, which he is expected to take part in 2027. “The Notorious One” is rumored to finish up with the UFC next year and move onto his career's next phase with BKFC.
