A few months ago, before his much-awaited UFC comeback against Max Holloway, Conor McGregor had opened up about a potential boxing rematch with Floyd Mayweather.
Over ten years ago, in 2017, Floyd Mayweather Jr. competed in his final professional boxing match when he faced and defeated Conor McGregor. In his career's 50th match, Mayweather Jr. finished his legacy on an extremely high note. Undefeated throughout his entire run, he faced a potential rematch with McGregor.
Now, months later, Mayweather himself has opened up about fighting him again. “Actually, I think me and Conor McGregor may lock up again,” Mayweather said on the PBD Podcast. “Yeah, absolutely. He didn't break his hand, he broke his foot, right? Okay, well, we going from the shoulders. We going from the shoulders.”
“The guy that took my whole swag and took it over there to the UFC,” Mayweather further added. “As soon as Conor McGregor faced Floyd Mayweather, I mean, he was big as life. His career wasn't like that before. What was his biggest payday? What was his biggest fight? So when he got me, what kind of money did he make? I think I made about $300 [million]. I don't like to count another man's pocket, but he ate good.”
