LaMelo Ball has undoubtedly hit the ground running for his new team, the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 25-year-old has formed one of the most potentially entertaining duos in the NBA alongside Anthony Edwards, and will be looking to return to All-Star consideration this campaign.

However, there are some jobs Ball himself is not quite cut out to do, and one of them is changing his son, LaOne Ball’s diapers. Speaking to ESPN, LaMelo revealed how it was his partner, Analicia Chaves, who usually changed LaOne’s diapers.

“Nah my girl do all that,” he said. “It's love for sure. We got a good game plan going on, so I know what I gotta do, put bread to the table, she knows what she gotta do, bring to the table…I definitely did it before, it just not my job, you know what I am saying? It’s not my job.”

LaOne was born in January 2026, and there is little doubt that changing his diapers probably takes the same amount of skill that LaMelo usually shows on the court. The Timberwolves opened their season with a 131-106 victory over the new-look Miami Heat, with LaMelo’s partner in crime, ANT, starting the campaign in familiar fashion.

Edwards scored 45 points and also had 10 rebounds and three assists to show from the game while going 16-29 from shooting, with Ball himself providing some impressive secondary scoring. LaMelo returned with 21 points, six assists and two rebounds from the game, going 7-17 from shooting, and will be well aware that he can improve on that number.

For the Heat, Giannis Antetokounmpo top-scored with 35 points and six rebounds, while Bam Adebayo had 15 points and seven rebounds. Miami, as suspected at the start of the season, struggled with their three-point shooting, going converting a paltry eight out of 33 attempts, which meant that they struggled to keep up with an offensively fluid Minnesota team that saw Rudy Gobert grab a whopping 15 rebounds on the night.

The Timberwolves will now visit the Orlando Magic for their second game of the season.
