Donald Trump's presence at sporting events always gets some kind of virality, and this time a weird occurrence happened during a college football game broadcast.

Trump attended the University of Texas at Austin and University of Tennessee game on Saturday, September 26, when there was some trouble with the ESPN broadcast.

“While ESPN was discussing the potential communication issues due to President Trump being at Tennessee-Texas, they began to have significant audio issues on the broadcast,” a fan wrote, adding at the time, “Static is still happening.”

While this could have been a surprise to fans, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian shared to media on Thursday, September 24, that communication would be compromised based on the whereabouts of Trump coming and going during the game.

“The one thing that you have to be aware of when the president goes to any game is that anytime he enters the stadium, leaves the stadium, or changes locations within the stadium, they cut all communication,” Sarkisian said, via ESPN. “So they cut your headsets. They cut the headsets to coaches. They cut headsets for coach-to-player communication.”

Based on the time of the fan's post on X, it was prior to the start of the game which could have signaled Trump's arrival to the stadium before 1 p.m. ET kick off.

“In the fourth quarter, if he decides to leave early, your communication gets cut off and shuts down,” Sarkisian said, via OnTexasFootball. “A good friend of mine is Mario Cristobal. Last year, when they're playing Indiana in the national championship, they had that drive at the end of that game; they had no communication because he was leaving early before the game ended, and so you get no warning. It just cuts out, and so you've got to be prepared for that. That is definitely something that is unique that could come up in this ball game.”

The Texas-Tennessee game is one of many sporting events Trump has attended this year. He was present at Game 3 of the NBA Finals when the New York Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs and also at the World Cup Final match in July.
