The Phoenix Suns took part in media day on Tuesday as they prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season. The Suns will be bringing back most of last year's core of players, including wing Dillon Brooks, who had the best year of his career during his first season with Phoenix in 2025-26.
Brooks spent a good chunk of his offseason in China this summer, and recently, he joked about some knowledge of Kung Fu he picked up that might come in handy for him during the upcoming season.
“If anyone pisses me off, I'm going to drop-kick, especially the ones wearing stripes,” said Brooks, per Hayden Cilley of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.
Brooks has long been known for his adversarial relationship with both the referees and opposing players throughout his career, which at times threatened to overshadow his play on the court.
Article Continues BelowHowever, last year, Brooks showcased a much deeper offensive package, as well as an improved outside jumper, that allowed him to generate some legit All-Star consideration after being traded to the Suns from the Houston Rockets as part of the Kevin Durant deal.
Meanwhile, the Suns have had a somewhat puzzling offseason, bringing back some familiar faces but also swinging a trade for Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges that saw the team give up a potentially valuable future first-round pick in the process.
The Suns are still led by franchise cornerstone Devin Booker, and Brooks will look to take another step forward on offense this year while retaining his status as an elite defensive player.
Phoenix will kick off its new season on October 21 on the road vs the Portland Trail Blazers.
