South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer trolled Texas A&M following Saturday's 17-9. He celebrated another win on Sunday: This one via the College Football Recruiting trail. And the Gamecocks head coach takes a new victory lap over Tennessee, plus Kentucky.
Beamer swiftly posted a reaction after learning four-star linebacker Skylar Alston is choosing South Carolina.
“This weekend keeps getting better!!!!” Beamer posted on the social media website X, formerly known as Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Alston becomes a prominent local addition for the Gamecocks too, starring for Cardinal Gibbons High in Raleigh. Turns out Alston always was high on Beamer and SC, as he told Chad Simmons of Rivals following his commitment to the 2028 class.
“They’ve definitely been one of those favorites, around that one or two range the entire time,” Alston told Rivals. “The relationship with me and South Carolina has been strong ever since I got offered. That is what pushed them to the top for my commitment.”
Rivals adds that Alston had visited the Gamecocks at least six different times. Alston even pulled back the curtain on the type of relationship he and Beamer have.

But he adds how he likes the way South Carolina's linebackers play downhill and turn to versatility, which are two of his strongest traits. Defensive coordinator Clayton White helped seal his decision too.
North Carolina and coach Bill Belichick were in the final running as well before Alston chose SC. South Carolina boosted its College Football Playoff chances by improving to 6-3 overall. The Gamecocks entered Saturday ranked No. 23 in the CFP.
