On Sunday, the New York Giants hit the field in Philadelphia for a road game against the spiraling Eagles. While it was an ugly first half for the Giants, who trailed 8-6 heading into the locker room, the team ultimately rallied in the second frame to win by a score of 19-11.
“The Giants just won in Philadelphia for the first time since 2013. They are now 5-2-1 and in control of the NFC East,” noted Jordan Raanan of ESPN NFL Nation on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, it had been quite a long while since the Giants had secured a win against their divisional rivals on the road. Of course, the Eagles were not exactly at full strength on Sunday, with several key players, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, missing this game with various ailments.
However, that certainly won't dim the excitement for the Giants, who are now fully in the driver's seat in the NFC East, with the Washington Commanders also having lost on Sunday to the Los Angeles Rams and the Dallas Cowboys going down to the wire against the Indianapolis Colts on the heels of their stunning loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week.
Winning the lowly NFC East means the Giants would be guaranteed a home game in the NFL playoffs this winter, which would be their first appearance in the postseason since the 2022 season.
In any case, the Giants will next hit the field on a short week on Thursday evening for a key game at home against the Commanders.
