On Sunday, the New England Patriots picked up a much-needed win on the road against the divisional rival Buffalo Bills. This game marked a bounce-back from quarterback Drake Maye, who diced up the Buffalo defense all afternoon and silenced his critics in the process.
Now, Maye has received some recognition from the league in the form of the AFC Player of the Week honor, per the NFL on X, formerly Twitter.
It's certainly a well-deserved award for Maye, who entered the game against Buffalo under heavy scrutiny following his disastrous performance the prior week on the road vs the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Through the first three weeks of the season, Maye had looked like a shell of his MVP candidate self from a year ago, consistently turning the ball over and lacking situational awareness in the pocket.
However, none of these issues were present on Sunday against a Bills team that had been undefeated heading into the matchup. Even after the Patriots ended up falling behind late in the game, Maye went on to orchestrate a fourth quarter touchdown drive to put his team ahead on the scoreboard for good.

In any case, the Patriots will next hit the field on Sunday at home against the upstart Las Vegas Raiders. Kickoff for that game is set for 1:00 pm ET from Foxborough.
