Word last weekend was that Jayden Daniels’s practice participation would determine whether he’s able to return as the Commanders’ starting quarterback against the Giants in Week 5 and Wednesday’s injury report offers reason to believe he’s moving in the right direction.
Daniels was listed as a full practice participant for the first time since dislocating his left elbow in Week 2. Daniels said after practice that he’s getting used to wearing a brace on the elbow because it is the only way he’ll be able to get back into the lineup.
“I want to play football. It’s a part of me, so gotta go out there and embrace it,” Daniels said.
While Daniels is moving in the right direction, the Commanders had a large number of players out of practice or working on a limited basis. Safety Percy Butler (hamstring), wide receiver Stefon Diggs (hamstring), quarterback Marcus Mariota (knee), wide receiver Terry McLaurin (hamstring), defensive end Charles Omenihu (groin, ankle), and safety Tyler Owens (hamstring) all sat out on Wednesday.
Cornerback Trey Amos (concussion), guard Sam Cosmi (concussion, throat), running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin), linebacker Frankie Luvu (groin), running back Jeremy McNichols (quad), tight end Chig Okonkwo (hamstring), tight end Ben Sinnott (rib), linebacker Sonny Styles (groin), running back Rachaad White (shoulder), and defensive end Deatrich Wise (quad) were the team’s limited participants.
