Recently, the Detroit Pistons ended this NBA offseason's longest stalemate by agreeing to a five-year, $200 million deal with All-Star center Jalen Duren to keep him with the franchise over the long haul. The deal came after months of speculation that the relationship between the two sides might be beyond repair amid the contract talks.

Now, Duren himself has spoken out after signing the massive deal.

“There's been a lot of talk and false narratives around my name this offseason,” he said, per Eric Vincent of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.

He also spoke on his excitement to be back in the Motor City amid speculation that he could leave or be traded.

“Detroit has become my home. I've built lifelong bonds with the people here,” he said.

He added that “I am a Detroit Piston and I want to be a Detroit Piston for life.”

Duren was one of the many Pistons players to have a breakout season during Detroit's run to the first seed in the Eastern Conference last season. Unfortunately, those good vibes were almost completely eradicated by his ghastly performance in the NBA playoffs, which the Pistons ended up bowing out of in the second round against the Cleveland Cavaliers after needing seven games to dispatch the lowly Orlando Magic.

That ugly performance led some to wonder how much Duren's price tag might be reduced this offseason, but although it took several months of drama, the two sides have now agreed to bring the All-Star big man back for next year and beyond.
