The Dallas Cowboys are 3-5 on the season after falling 33-30 to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 8. With the November 10 trade deadline quickly approaching, the franchise may have to consider selling if the losing continues. However, it doesn't sound like George Pickens is being considered as a trade candidate for the front office.

At least according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, as he claimed he'd be heavily surprised if the Cowboys were to trade away the 25-year-old wide receiver. During the latest episode of “NFL Live,” Rapoport stated he just does not imagine a scenario where Dallas deals away star-caliber players at the trade deadline.

“The other thing that has come up is a potential George Pickens trade. I would be beyond stunned,” Rapoport said. “I would be beyond stunned. I don't see it at all. The Cowboys are not really in the business of giving up good players. Plus, he's obviously someone they would like to hold onto into the future. I would be beyond stunned if anything like that happened.

Rapoport went on to argue that, although the salary situation depicts a world where the Cowboys may have to consider moving on from Pickens, the franchise can seemingly find a way to make it work. Much like the Cincinnati Bengals did to retain Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins.

The five-year veteran has played in all eight games for the Cowboys so far. He enters Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts with 39 receptions, 533 yards, and two touchdowns on the season. Compared to the 2025-26 campaign, his numbers are noticeably down and are closer to his numbers when he was still playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
