The Baltimore Ravens suffered catastrophic injury luck at the quarterback position on Sunday, and did so at an even more inopportune time than usual. They have to play the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars on a short week, so there is virtually no time for the organization or coaching staff to pivot. Undrafted signal-caller Joe Fagnano, who is nursing an ankle issue, is expected to start this Thursday. He is not guaranteed anything beyond that, however.

The Ravens are “working behind the scenes” and exploring potential QB options ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, per Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network. If Fagnano struggles, which is quite normal for a rookie third-stringer who is thrust into a prime-time matchup for his first career NFL start, then Baltimore may be forced to look elsewhere for its quarterback needs.

Lamar Jackson could be done for the remainder of the campaign after suffering a freak thumb injury on the team's first snap of last Sunday's game versus the Buffalo Bills. Backup Tyler Huntley could join No. 8 on injured reserve after leaving that same matchup with a toe issue. Challenges lie ahead for a team that is already in a vulnerable state after losing three straight. The defense is a bit shaky as it stands. A limited offense could crush the franchise's playoff ambitions, yet again.

Fagnano will do what he can to prevent deja vu from sweeping Charm City. The former UConn star completed 10-of-21 passes for 91 yards with zero TDs and one interception against Buffalo. He will have a little more time to prepare, but not much. How the 25-year-old fares versus the Jaguars could determine what general manager Eric DeCosta does in the subsequent days.

If the Ravens choose to go the trade route after their Thursday Night Football, Mac Jones or Case Keenum seem like logical targets. Ideally, Joe Fagnano will meet the moment and eliminate the need for reinforcements.
