Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller has agreed to a five-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension, representatives AJ Vaynerchuk and Joey Middleton of VaynerSports told ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday.
Miller, who turns 24 next month, had a career season last year, averaging 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 38.3% shooting from 3 in 65 regular-season games. He was also able to stay mostly healthy following a season in which he appeared in just 27 games.
Miller, along with then-rookie Kon Knueppel, helped spearhead a surprise run to the postseason in the second half of last year, where they fell in the second play-in game. He was especially key to Charlotte's midseason turnaround, as the Hornets went 41-24 with Miller available and 3-14 without him. He missed a chunk of the beginning of the season due to a shoulder injury.
Miller underwent surgery in May to address the stability of that shoulder but he has since fully recovered and appeared in preseason for Charlotte.
Heading into his fourth year in the league, Miller will be stepping into an even bigger role for the Hornets this season after the team traded away longtime franchise staples LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges.
The Hornets drafted Miller with the No. 2 pick in the 2023 draft.
