Capping off Week 6 in an intriguing Monday Night Football clash versus the Washington Commanders, the San Francisco 49ers will look to continue their undefeated start. To open the season, the 49ers have taken down three potential Super Bowl rivals, including two division rivals in the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks. As the Niners look to continue their perfect start, the offense will be down another weapon for quarterback Brock Purdy. According to league insider Mike Garafolo on X (formerly Twitter), veteran receiver Christian Kirk will miss Monday night's game.

“The #49ers ruled out WR Christian Kirk for tonight and elevated WR Malik Turner and LB Jalen Graham from the practice squad,” Garafolo posted on Monday afternoon.

With Kirk out, the 49ers will once again roll with Mike Evans and Brandin Cooks at receiver, in addition to the promoted Turner and young wideouts Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins. In addition to Kirk, San Francisco also has Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson, De'Zhaun Stribling, and Deebo Samuel out with different ailments. While other Purdy weapons like running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle are also healthy, the Niners could use players like Kirk back on the field.

The former Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans target has yet to see the field since signing with San Francisco. Since his career year in 2022 with the Jaguars, Kirk has seen his numbers drop across the board. Injuries have played a role in the decline. The hope was that his career would turn around in San Francisco's dynamic attack. However, that has yet to happen. After missing the Monday night tilt against the Commanders, is Kirk any closer to getting back on the field? If not, the Niners' attack certainly has the ability to keep rolling until he gets back into the lineup.
