Texas football sustained its second brutal loss of 2026, this time falling to Florida Saturday. Coach Steve Sarkisian isn't the only one sitting on the hot seat, though. A former Alabama running back blasted quarterback Arch Manning.

Worse, the ex-Crimson Tide RB turned CBS Sports analyst Damien Harris started questioning Manning's surname.

“I'm just gonna call him Arch, because if you take away the last name you have a below average quarterback… Arch Manning isn't playing like a Manning,” Harris boldly said on set.

The famed nephew of Super Bowl winning passers Peyton and Eli Manning, plus grandson of Pro Football Hall of Famer Archie, continues to face harsh criticism. The critics started to slowly ease off after guiding the miracle 24-23 comeback win over then-No. 1 Ohio State. But those detractors are back in full force thanks to Manning's last two games.

Manning tossed two interceptions including one that set up Oklahoma's walk-off field goal last Saturday. Texas lost its No. 1 ranking in the process by falling to the previously unranked Sooners.

This time Manning looked non-threatening with his arm and legs. Florida's defensive game plan bottled him to 173 passing yards and allowing only one touchdown throw. But Manning's worst stat line fell on the rushing side: 10 carries, zero yards.

Texas falls to 4-2 overall. But now faces being left out of the top 25 rankings once that gets unveiled Sunday. This loss also impacts the Longhorns' chances of playing for the SEC title come December, plus jeopardizes their chances of making the College Football Playoffs. Now there are analysts who feel like the Texas QB must re-earn his surname again.
