The Cleveland Guardians' game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday was postponed due to rain. First pitch for Game 4 of the American League Championship Series is now scheduled for 8:08 PM ET on Saturday night in Cleveland. Playing in cold weather is difficult enough, but having to make adjustments during rain delays and games getting postponed can prove to be especially challenging. Guardians slugger Jo Adell revealed how the team handled the game on Friday being postponed, via Mason Horodyski of News 5 Cleveland.
“Yeah, obviously we were bummed, we were ready to go, but with the weather, just getting started kind of wasn't in the cards,” Adell said before Saturday's game. “We gotta do what we gotta do, so we're back today ready to go… Guys were working, we were getting everything in that we needed. Some extra treatment and trying to stay locked in and just be ready knowing what we are facing, getting prepared for the game.”
While the Guardians were ready to play yesterday, Adell said they are ready today as well despite the matchup on Friday night being postponed. At this point in the season, one has to imagine the extra day of rest will only help matters for both teams. The playoffs represent extra contests following the long 162-game grind of the regular season, so perhaps both teams will be especially fresh on Saturday night.
