Angel Reese is headed to the WNBA Finals for the first time in her career. The Atlanta Dream star says she made it happen through her own belief.
After Atlanta beat the New York Liberty in the WNBA semifinals, Angel Reese told ESPN what the moment meant to her. When asked about making the Finals for the first time, Reese gave a brief but heartfelt answer.

This moment showed how important Atlanta’s playoff run has been and how much Reese has grown in her first season with the team.
The Dream earned their spot in the Finals by sweeping the Liberty in the best-of-five semifinals. Atlanta took charge with a 101-98 overtime win in Game 2, then wrapped up the series in Game 3.
Reese was key to the team’s success. In Game 2, she scored 23 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and had two blocks. She set a new playoff career high when Atlanta needed her most. The former Chicago Sky forward also stepped up in overtime. She scored six points and hit key free throws to help seal the win. Jordin Canada also scored 23 points. Naz Hillmon made the go-ahead basket late in overtime.

Her standout first season with the Dream also earned her the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award. She’s the first player in team history to win this honor.
Now, Reese has another big achievement to celebrate. Atlanta is back in the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2013. The team has a chance to win its first championship.
